We hope you’ll consider entering the DBSA 2009 "Facing Us" Video Contest. The focus of this year’s contest will be on individuals’ journeys towards recovery. Our hope is to provide inspiration to individuals living with depression or bipolar disorder—to acknowledge that, though there may be dark times, there is also hope, and they are not alone. |
By sharing your story, you can provide your peers much appreciated encouragement to keep working towards wellness. After our first video contest in 2007, one visitor to the Facing Us Clubhouse shared that, while in the depths of depression one dark night, he found comfort and hope in the personal story video of one of his peers—and that it saved his life! Perhaps your story will be a lifeline for someone as well.

We encourage individuals to tell their story in the manner they are most comfortable with and in a way that best expresses their personality and interests. The tone can be serious or tastefully humorous. Creativity is encouraged, so feel free to express yourself.
- DBSA will obtain full and exclusive ownership of all (not just winning) submissions. Clips may be used in any variety of ways including, but not limited to placement on DBSA websites, YouTube, Facebook, and in educational videos.
- Entrants grant DBSA to use limited biographical information in promotional materials (Cindy S., Chicago, IL, would be an example using minimal information.) But we encourage all entrants, who are comfortable and able, to grant permission to use their full name, as it would increase audience impact. Full identification will also be important should we receive any requests from the media. Please note that, "full." as opposed to "limited," permission will NOT be a factor in judging.
- No entries will be returned.

- DBSA will post select entries on their website(s), including, but not limited to, FacingUs.org. All entries posted on any DBSA website will receive name credit. Please note, however, that submission does not guarantee posting or use by DBSA.
